- However, the government has declared that from 1 January 2024 there will be 15 counties in the country after opposition emerged after emerging counties. The Viken county will be replaced by Østfold, Akershus, and Buskerud; Østfold, Akershus, Buskerud by Vestfold and Telemark; Troms og Finnmark by Troms and Finnmark.
